No Internet When Connected to WiFi (DNS Issue)

*You will probably need to call the user experiencing this issue, so you'll need to walk them through the steps (and provide them with the local administrator account info) over the phone

  1. Right click on the network symbol (Globe) in the System Tray
  2. Open Network & Internet Settings
  3. Change Adapter Options
  4. Right click on Wi-Fi
  5. Select Properties
  6. Enter Local Administrator credentials (.\civic.adm in Secret Server)
  7. Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
  8. Check the box next to "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
  9. Click on OK
  10. Click on OK

The user's internet should automatically connect after completing these steps, but if it doesn't after a few minutes, try the following steps:

  • Open Command Prompt as an Administrator
  • Type in ipconfig /flushDNS
  • Type in ipconfig /release
  • Type in ipconfig /renew

Remember to change the local admin (civic.adm) password on Thycotic after the user is connected.
